Sue Francis Mann, 88, daughter of Bill and Eloise Francis, sister of Irma Francis Moore, wife of Howard Paul Mann, and mother of Paula Mann Miller, David Mann, Donald Mann and Richard Mann, died in Arlington on Saturday, July 11, 2015, after a long illness. Graveside service: 9 a.m. Friday in Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery. Visitation: 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Arlington Chapel. Raised in Altus, Okla., Sue met her beloved husband while still in high school. When he joined the Army Air Corps, the two embarked on a life of travel, raising their family on the move through Ohio, California, Texas, Oklahoma, Florida, Georgia, England and Alabama, among other stops. Upon her husband's retirement from the Air Force, Sue's family settled in Arlington, where for a number of years they operated a rental business. In her youth, Sue was musical and spry. She loved to whistle and sing, roller-skate and dance. In her later years, she still bowled with the champions in her league. Although she loved the glitter of Las Vegas, where she and Paul often vacationed, Sue's heart was most at home with her family. She tirelessly babysat, chauffeured, cooked and cleaned up after a cavalcade of children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nephews, nieces and all of their respective pals and mates. She brought her own grandmother, and later her mother, home to live with her as they aged into frailty. We whom she leaves behind will cherish her memory and strive to spread her values of peace, loyalty, generosity and good humor.
