Minta was the second of nine children born to John Green and Jane (Baird) Watt of Troy, Illinois. She married Joseph Newton (Jasper) Baird in Madison County, Illinois on Dec. 1, 1880. They were the parents of five children: Jessie, Byrle Newton, Jean Mable (Jennie), Beulah and Joe Baird.

Edwardsville Intelligencer published the following on Tuesday, March 21, 1899 on page 5:
Died, at San Jacinto, Cal., Friday, March 10, Mrs. Minta M. Baird, wife of Jasper N. Baird, aged 41 years, 4 months and 3 days. The remains were brought here Friday and taken to the residence of her father J. G. Watt, from whence the funeral took place Sunday; interment at the Watt Cemetery. She leaves a husband, three daughters and two sons, besides her father, two sisters and five brothers.
