DEAN--Eda M. Hadley Dean, wife of J. Chester Dean, and granddaughter of the late Judge R. S. Hadley, died at the residence, 259 Thirtieth street at 5:30 p.m. Sunday. She was born in Granite Falls, Minn., July 20, 1882, and came to Utah when 8 years old, making her home since. Besides the husband, her father, Lewis G. Fritz, and grandmother, Mrs. Ottelia Hadley, of this city the following children survive: Vernal, Laverne, Delmont, Welden [Weldon], Edward, Dallas, Arvil and Dorothy. She was a member of the L. A. S. W. V. Funeral announcement will be made later.

DEAN-Funeral of Mrs. Eda M. Dean will be held Thursday, October 11, at 2 o'clock p.m., from Eighth ward chapel. Body will lie in state at the residence, 259 Thirtieth street, tomorrow evening an until the funeral hour Thursday.

From what I can tell from the records, her grandmother raised her and she took on the name Hadley from her step-grandfather who may have adopted her. The 1900 census she's listed as granddaughter, but in the 1910 census, her grandmother (Ottelia Schakehusky Fritz Hadley) is listed as her mother.
