Mr. Fournier held the positions of postmaster, reeve, mayor, town clerk and treasurer. In 1894 , he was defeated as Conservative candidate for the provincial House. He saw the townsite cut from a pine grove to a thriving community of over 13 000 people. and in all his activities enjoyed the respect of the citizens.
