THOMASVILLE - Mary John Spivey, 98, died Sunday at Piedmont Crossing in Thomasville.

Born February 20, 1913 in Belmont, NC, Mrs. Spivey is a daughter of the late Johnny Lewis and Hattie Harrison Lewis and was a graduate of Mary Washington College.

Mrs. Spivey was a strong Christian Woman with a very friendly and outgoing personality who touched the lives of a lot of people. In addition to her parents Mrs. Spivey was preceded in death by her husband Alva Edward Spivey, Sr.

Mrs. Spivey is survived by one son, Ed Spivey and his wife Merel of High Point and two grandchildren, Edward Spivey and wife Wendy of High Point and Ellen Tambor and her husband Josh of Baltimore, MD. She is also survived by four great grandchildren, Zachary Spivey, Hayzen Spivey and wife Nichole, Jamie Tambor and Rachel Tambor.

Funeral services for Mrs. Spivey will be held 11:00 am Thursday in the chapel of Cumby Family Funeral Service, High Point with the Reverend Ralph Eanes officiating.

Interment will follow in Guilford Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will greet friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.
