On Thursday October 5, 1911 Mr. Westerfield endured a horrible accident at Macy Gravel Pit. A cave in occurred and Mr. Westerfield's toe had to be amputated as a result of this industrial accident at the Macy Gravel Pit.

Andrew J. Westerfield III, 59, Dies at Hospital
Andrew J. Westerfield III, 59, died Sunday at the Major Hospital after an illness of three weeks. His home was on East Jackson Street.
He was born near Manilla in Rush county on December 22, 1886. For the past twenty years he has resided in Shelbyville where he was employed as a carpenter. In March 1924 he was married to Hulda May Lewis, of Blue Ridge. Mr. Westerfield attended the Calvary Baptist church. From 1908 until 1911 he served in the U.S. Army, stationed in the Philippine Islands.
Surviving are the widow, four children, Loretta Frances, Robert, George and Charles.
Funeral services will be held at the Murphy funeral home at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday with the Rev. Clarence Hager officiating. Burial will be in Forest Hill cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 7:00 o’clock tonight.

In 1900 Census, he lived with his parents at age 20 in Manilla, Indiana.. In 1910 Census, he lived with his parents at age 29. He died in April, 1919 in Manilla, Indiana (Rush County).

Andrew Jackson Westerfield married Huldah May Lewis Westerfield on January 12, 1924 in Shelby County, Indiana. They had four children together; Charles, George, Loretta and Robert. They all grew up in Shelbyville, Indiana.

Andrew J. Westerfield III, 59, Dies at Hospital
Andrew J. Westerfield III, 59, died Sunday at the Major Hospital after an illness of three weeks. His home was on East Jackson Street.
He was born near Manilla in Rush county on December 22, 1886. For the past twenty years he has resided in Shelbyville where he was employed as a carpenter. In March 1924 he was married to Hulda May Lewis, of Blue Ridge. Mr. Westerfield attended the Calvary Baptist church. From 1908 until 1911 he served in the U.S. Army, stationed in the Philippine Islands.
Surviving are the widow, four children, Loretta Frances, Robert, George and Charles.
Funeral services will be held at the Murphy funeral home at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday with the Rev. Clarence Hager officiating. Burial will be in Forest Hill cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 7:00 o’clock tonight.
