The daughter of Henry M. and Lucie (Palmer) Brown, Helen was born at Wagoner, Oklahoma. Her parents next moved to Muskogee in that state, then to Missouri and, finally, to Houston,Texas.

Her mother's family was originally from Milwaukee, which was the birthplace of Helen's first husband, Milton Epstein. He married her at Webster Groves, Missouri on 07 Sep 1932. Her complete birth information is recorded on the passenger list of the S.S. Roma, which arrived 30 Nov 1932 at New York City, returning her and her husband from their honeymoon.

Helen and Milton were the parents of Lucie Ann and Susan. They are all known to have been living in Milwaukee until 1945, but disappear from records after that date.

According to Helen's Social Security Application and Claim records, by 1962 she was known as Helen Brown Madden and, by 13 Jan 1975, as Helen Brown Raymond. She is listed in Delray Beach directories as a resident there from 1992.

(There is a link on her first husband's F/G to a 1932 news article about their wedding, which names her parents and gives the wedding details.)
