AHRENS, E. Keith - Memorial services were held Saturday, Dec. 5 for E. Keith Ahrens, who died Nov. 30, (1981) at his home in Bellingham. Ahrens was born in Lost Nation, Iowa in 1889, moved to Great Falls, Montana as a young child, and then to Seattle at the age of 12. He graduated from Broadway High in Seattle in 1908 and attended the University of Washington for two years. In 1912 he came to a farm on the Central Rd. where son Spencer and family still reside. He was a charter member of the Whatcom County Dairymen's Association, a member of the Washington Cooperative Farmers Association, the Whatcom County Cow Testing Association, and the Ten Mile Grange, and served on the Forest Grove School Board for many years. He was active in getting the herd law passed an in inaugurating the TB test for dairy cattle. In recent years he was president of the Fourth Corner Chapter of the Blind and a member of the Governor's Council on Aging. He is survived by two sisters, Mary Garrod of Bellevue and Doris Rogers of Seattle; one daughter, Pat Larson of Seattle; and three sons, Keith A. of Bellingham, Conner A. of Silver Springs, Maryland, and Spencer A. of Everson. There are also numerous nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Memorials may be made to the Fourth Corner Chapter of the Blind.
