Mrs. Rebecca Manous Franks, age 73 of Gainesville, passed away on Sunday, July 12, 2015 at Northeast Georgia Medical Center following a sudden illness.
Funeral services are scheduled for Saturday, July 18, 2015 at 3:00 pm in the Chapel of Memorial Park Funeral Home with interment to follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. Reverend Danny Newbern will officiate. The family will receive friends on Saturday, July 18, 2015 from 1 - 3 pm, prior to the service, at the funeral home.
Mrs. Franks was born November 2, 1941 in Atlanta, Georgia to the late Joseph Morris Manous and Nancy Joyce Beard Manous. Rebecca was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Clark Jerome Franks. She was very active in her community and a member of Lanier Hills Church. She was retired from the law office of Whelchel, Dunlap, Jarrard & Walker, LLP and was a member of the Georgia Association of Legal Secretaries. She became a certified professional legal secretary in 1980 and completed her certification as a legal assistant at Gainesville Junior College in 1988. Rebecca was voted Secretary of the Year by the local chapter of the Legal Secretaries in 1981-82 and Secretary of the Year by the state chapter in 1991-92.
Mrs. Franks is survived by her son & daughter-in-law, Barry & Leslie Franks of Dawsonville, daughter & son-in-law, Jenny & Mike Childers of Gainesville, grandchildren, Ashley & Brandon Tarrant, Michaela Dunagan and Alex Childers and her brother & sister-in-law, Kenneth & Debbie Manous of Fayetteville, Georgia.
