Ann Potts wife of Alexander Moreland a shoe maker, died at home at the corner of Frederica and Fourth Streets; she will be buried beside her daughter-in-law, Mrs. Jesse Moreland, who died 10 days ago; she was the daughter of Jesse and Mildred Potts; when she was quite young her family moved to Kentucky and settled at the Yellow Banks. In the early 1820's She married Alexander Moreland, of Maryland. He died in September 1872 at the age of 79. The following children are deceased, Albert Moreland, Mrs. Alfred (Martha) Johnson, Joseph Moreland, Mrs Sam (Mary) McClarty, Thomas Moreland, surviving children are son Jesse P. Moreland and Mrs. W.A. (Emma Moreland) McGill.
Mrs. McGill (Emma), named S.V. Walden the executor of her estate. The corner lot at Forth and Frederica sold to J.D. Powers, J.H. Hickman and J.Z. Moore and it was rumored that a hotel may be built there. However it was surveyed and divided into 13 lots and resold. Moreland Park of Owensboro was named for the family of Annie Belle Moreland Mattingly, her granddaughter.
