Funeral for Joe Edward Harrell, 90, Lawton, will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, at First Baptist Church.
Mr. Harrell passed away Saturday, July 11, 2015, in Norman.
Burial will be in Highland Cemetery under the direction of the Becker-Rabon Funeral Home.
He was born July 6, 1925, east of Sterling to W.A. "Bill" and Maymie (Scott) Harrell. He grew up in Marlow where he attended high school until he enlisted in the Army in 1943 at Fort Sill. Following his discharge in 1946 he received his diploma from Marlow High School. He married Bette Brown on July 10, 1948, in Marlow.
He had worked a short time for Halliburton and later worked for Norton Buick in Oklahoma City and in Lawton. Joe then began a longtime career with the United States Postal Service, retiring in the early 1980s. Following his retirement he worked as a custodian with the Lawton Public Schools at MacArthur Junior High School.
Joe was a member of First Baptist Church. He enjoyed spending time with family as well as fishing, furniture restoration and tinkering with his lawn mowers.
He is survived by his wife of the home; a daughter and son-in-law, Raye Ann and David Johnson, Norman; a son-in-law, Britt Hubbard, Lawton; three grandsons, Chase Hubbard, Jeremy Hubbard and Jeff Johnson; a great-granddaughter, Alexandria Hubbard; a sister, Delores Allison, Mustang.
His daughter, Kaye Lyn Hubbard, a brother, William Derrell Harrell, and a sister, Betty Satterwhite, preceded him in death.
