Roslyn Leigh Anderson
1938-2015
Salt Lake City, UT-Roslyn Leigh Anderson passed away peacefully on July 8, 2015 at the age of 77 in Salt Lake City, Utah surrounded by family. Roslyn was born July 16, 1938 in Cedar City, Utah. Roslyn attended Cedar City schools, and her love and proficiently of academics continued at The College of Southern Utah aka Southern Utah University, graduating in 1960, receiving her degrees in Education.
Roslyn or "Mrs. Anderson" as she was known by her many students was an educator, touching and blessing lives for 38 years. She was recognized by many throughout her career receiving many awards for her achievements. Roslyn was known for her genuine concern and love for her students, for recognizing their individual potential, and making their future greater and much brighter. She was well respected in her profession for her dedication and commitment, and valued by those who knew her, colleagues, students, and parents alike.
In 1961, Roslyn married the love of her life, Don Anderson, sealed for time and eternity in the Salt Lake Temple. Following his death in March 1983, Roslyn met the challenges of widowhood for 32 years with grace and perseverance, raising her three children, two sons, and one daughter with a home full of love and nurturing. Roslyn loved her family dearly, and she was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother.
Roslyn was also a devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and over the years served in many positions in the church, including Relief Society and her great love for temple work. Roslyn was also very passionate about genealogy, and spent countless hours in service to the humanitarian efforts.
For a number of years, Roslyn endured faithfully a battle with cancer and uncertainties the last years of her life. She proved herself to be brave in the face of near - constant pain, with a frail body and a will of iron. She lived an exemplary life, and understood and endured well the trials and purpose of this life.
Roslyn was an inspiration to her children and grandchildren, who now will remember the lessons of patience and adversity and the example that she taught.
Roslyn's life was grounded in faith, dignity, hard work and gratitude. She strengthened us with her prayers, blessed us with her love and encouraged us with her hope. The passing of our beloved mother will be missed by family and friends alike.
Roslyn is survived by: one brother and two sisters, her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and numerous other relatives.
A funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm, Wednesday, July 15, 2015 at Redwood Memorial Mortuary, 6500 South Redwood Road, West Jordan, Utah with a viewing being held prior from 11:00 to 1:00 pm. Interment to follow.
