Dola Ruth was born June 4, 1919, in Roanoke on the Shockey-Huffman homestead. She married Oran Stroder and worked for Mrs. Baird's Bread, General Dynamics and Dillard's Department Store. Dola Ruth was a member of Oak Knoll Baptist Church where she taught Sunday school class. She was also active with the Northeast Emergency Distribution or NEED. Dola Ruth loved cats and had taken in and cared for many strays. She also enjoyed working in her yard and her flower garden. Dola Ruth, along with her family, enjoyed visiting various state parks and camping. She was preceded in death by her husband, Oran Stroder Sr.; three sons, Oran Stroder Jr., William Franklin Stroder and Richard Wayne Stroder; her parents; and four brothers, Othal, Herman, Earl and Bill Huffman. Survivors: Daughter, Rosemary Alt and husband, John; grandchildren, Gregory Forbes Alt, Michael Wayne Alt and Robert Douglas Alt; and numerous nieces and nephews.
