Scott was born in Modesto, California to Morris and Sue Tanner. He is survived by his loving family: wife Donna, his three children Scott Tanner Jr., Michelle Unruh and Michael Tanner and three grandchildren and one great-grandson, his sister Sandra Benitiz (Art), 2 nieces, many relatives, and many many dear friends.

He began working in the plumbing industry even before graduating from high school. He retired from the Plumbers and Pipefitters Local  442 and after retirement he spent many fun years in collecting and selling antique duck decoys and fishing lures and became so knowledgeable on these he received phone calls from all over the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service located off Maze Road.

He was known by many of his close neighbors as "the Mayor" as he always took care of the neighbors' homes when they were not home and made sure their garbage cans were out in front on time. He was loved by all. The funeral will be held at Our Lady of Fatima Church at 10am on January 20th.
