Condy Wayne Whetzel, age 59, of Jenkins Run Road, Moorefield, WV., died Monday, March 30, 2009 at his home.
Born May 1, 1949, in Dumpling Run, WV., he was the son of the late Jesse Lee Whetzel and Goldie Lee (Ketterman) Whetzel. He was also preceded in death by maternal grandparents, George and Sallie Virginia Belle (Parker) Ketterman; paternal grandparents, Jackson and Virginia "Jenny" (Mongold) Whetzel; and two infant sisters.
Mr. Whetzel worked for David "Porky" VanMeter. He moved to the South Fork, Moorefield, WV. area and worked for Ralph Ours on his farm until April 26, 1976. Later he was employed by American Woodmark, Moorefield, and worked there for 26 years until his illness in 2002.
He is survived by his wife of 36 1/2 years, Karen June (VanMeter) Whetzel, whom he married in 1972; two daughters, Joanne Faye (Whetzel) Dove and husband Keith, both of Baker, WV. and Sandra Kaye (Whetzel) Barb of Moorefield; four grandchildren, Jesse Aldine and Elizabeth Ressie Dove of Baker and Dakota Chase and Addison Blake Barb of Moorefield; one stepgranddaughter, Kayla Brooke Barb of Moorefield; one brother, Melvin Junior "Buck" Whetzel and wife Nancy, of Baker, two sisters, Shirley Lee (Whetzel) Thorne and Joyce Lynn (Whetzel) Alt and husband Darren, all of Dorcas, WV.; and several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
Funeral services were Thursday, April 2nd at 11 a.m. at the Petersburg Church of God with Bishop Aaron A. Davidson and Bishop G. Glenden Berg officiating. Interment was in the Brake Cemetery, Dorcas.
