He was born on May 3, 1935 in Marion, Virginia and was the son of the late William “Red” and Mabel Catherine Shamblin Gillespie. William was a retired maintenance supervisor for the Tazewell County P.S.A. and lived all of his life in Tazewell County. He was a great and beloved father, husband, pawpaw, and brother.

Funeral services for William F. “Dick” Gillespie will be conducted on Tuesday, July 14, 2015 at 2:00 pm at The Richlands Tabernacle in Richlands, Virginia with Reverend Bob Osborne, Reverend Phillip Horton and Brother William Gillespie officiating. Interment will follow at Greenhills Memory Gardens in Claypool Hill, Virginia. Nephews and family will serve as pallbearers.
