Sarah Jane (Alexander) Calvert - 1942-2015

This earth has lost, and heaven has welcomed home, one of its best and brightest souls. Surrounded by family, Sarah Jane (Alexander) Calvert, 73, joined her eternal companion and entered into a glorious rest with the Lord on July 10, 2015.
Sarah was born in Evanston, Wyoming on June 11, 1942, the only daughter and fourth child of Miles and Clara (Mills) Alexander. Sarah was a small-town girl who grew up in Evanston with her parents and four brothers, where she attended Evanston High School and ultimately met her best friend and spouse of over fifty years, Terry Calvert.
Terry and Sarah were married on September 17, 1960 and throughout their fifty-plus years of marriage, they welcomed six children, thirteen grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren into their lives with tremendous love and joy. After Terry's passing four years ago, three additional great-grandchildren came into the fold.
Sarah leaves a strong legacy of family, love, devotion, sacrifice, and faith. She has blessed hundreds of lives through her generosity, warmth, friendliness, and goodness. Sarah loved people – to talk with them, interact with them, to be surrounded by them. She was always at the center of a good gathering and the matriarch of a home where all were welcomed and none left hungry. As a lifelong member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and with talents in music, cooking, and sewing, she served God and His creations in many capacities.
Sarah is survived by her six children, Marc (and Suzanne) Calvert, Lynda (and Cort) McMurray, Debbie (and Mo) Niko, Erin Calvert, Stephen (and Celeste) Calvert, Shawn (and Mabel) Calvert; her thirteen grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; and one sibling, Charles Alexander of Payson, Utah.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her father, mother, and three of her brothers, Miles Alexander, James Alexander, and Richard Alexander.
Arrangements are with Memorial Oaks Funeral Home – Dignity Memorial. Following a private internment, a memorial service will be held in Sarah's honor on Saturday, July 18, 2015 at 11:30 a.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints located at 602 Eldridge Road, Sugar Land, Texas 77478.
