He was born March 19, 1931, in Waverly to Everett T. and Ruth Jarrett Turner . He married Margaret Louise "Maggie" Archer at the Makalapa Chapel in Honolulu, Hawaii, on March 5, 1952. They were married for 63 years. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include three daughters, one son, 11 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren .
Jarrie was employed by Illinois Bell as an electronics electrician for 35 years until retiring in 1985.
Jarrie served as the Mayor of Rochester in the 1970's, also served as water commissioner, and served on the village board for ten years. He was the past Exalted Ruler of Elk's Lodge #158 in 1985 and was the past Master of the Rochester Masonic Lodge #635. Everett was a member of the VFW Post 158, American Legion Post 32, the Ansar Shrine Legion of Honor and Consistory.
He loved crossword puzzles, golfing, and shuffleboard.
He was a United States Navy veteran serving in the Korean War from 1950-1953.
Funeral Service: 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, July 15, 2015, at Staab Funeral Home with Pastor David Upchurch and Pastor Ben Brown officiating.
Burial will follow at Camp Butler National Cemetery where military honors will be conducted by the Sangamon County Inter-Veterans Burial Detail.
