Roland Emil Duckworth, 83, died Feb. 2 at St. Joseph's Hospital. He was born in Hattiesburg, Miss., and grew up in south Mississippi. He was a graduate of Forest County High School in Hattiesburg and was an employee of Layne Central and Layne Atlantic Companies for 48 years. He lived in Savannah the past 36 years. He was a member of Memorial Baptist Church and an avid sportsman.
SURVIVORS: his wife of 60 years, Moira Brock Duckworth of Savannah; a daughter, Moira Emily Dear of Edwards, Miss.; three sons, Michael Barnard Duckworth of Tupelo, Miss., John Patrick Duckworth of Meridian, Miss., and Joe Duckworth of Savannah; 12 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
