John Henry Austin was born September 21, 1866 near Emersonville, in Lynn [sic] County, Missouri, departed this life on December 14, 1963, at the age of 97 years, 2 months, and 23 days. He was the son of Joseph and Catherine Austin, one of seven children. He was married to Nancy Eliza McClannahan, October 16, 1890, at Lecompton, Kansas. They were the parents of one daughter, Catherine. After the death of his first wife in 1924, he married Cora Ann Keeth, who died January 6, 1960.

Mr. Austin accepted Christ as his personal Lord and Savior as a boy, and was baptized in the Presbyterian Church in Clinton, Missouri. He remained a faithful servant of his Master all his days demonstrating his faith by his deeds and his words.

He leaves to mourn his death, a daughter, Catherine Remy of Forsyth; one sister, Mrs Oscar Anderson of Dinnba, California; two grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; three step children and many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held in Forsyth Presbyterian Church with Rev. Robert Thom officiating, at 2 p.m. December 16, Interment was in Lecompton, Kansas.
