Mr. Jimmie D. Willis of Palmetto passed away on July 7, 2015.

He was 88 years old. Mr. Willis was born on Terra Ceia Island and lived his entire life in the Terra Ceia and Palmetto area. Jimmie Willis served in the Merchant Marines from 1943-1944. He worked 39 years at Gardiner-Cargill Plant in Tampa before retiring. After retirement, Mr. Willis continued to stay active in his community working various jobs, which included working as a tender on the Palmetto-St. Petersburg Ferry and the Anna Maria Bridge. Mr. Willis was an active member of the Terra Ceia Baptist Church as well as a member of the Gillette Baptist Church for many years.

He was predeceased by: Catherine, his former wife and mother to his children. Mr. Noah Willis and Ardella Mullis Willis: parents. Billy (J.Q) Willis: brother and Kimberly Willis: granddaughter.

He is survived by: Martha, his wife, brother, Delvin Willis (Yoko), sister, Nancy Silavent(Robert), his sons, Leon, David and Terry Wills as well as their wives respectfully: Glenda and Amy, residents of Palmetto. Daughters, Kathleen McGuire-Anerdick of Ocala, Diane French and Angela Perich of Palmetto and their husbands respectfully: Del, Tim and Don. Three stepchildren: Pat (resident of Palmetto) and Raymond Johnson (resident of Christmas) and Laurel Schumann of Ciarcona. As well as their partners, respectfully Terry, Joan and John. 6 Grandsons, 5 Granddaughters, 4 Great Grandsons, 6 Great Granddaughters, 3 Step Great Grandsons, 5 Step Great Granddaughters.

Mr. Jimmie Willis was a fan of the Mets. He enjoyed both being a spectator and coaching baseball, playing the guitar. He enjoyed and was very skilled at making fishing casts. His favorite pastime was fishing, fishing and more fishing.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be sent to: Manatee Chapter of BUDS in memory of Kimberly Willis. Visitation will be held Sunday, July 12 from 5 to 7 pm at Kicliter Funeral Home. 517 8th Ave West, Palmetto. Service will be at 10am Monday- July 13 at Gillette Baptist Church with Military Burial immediately following at Gillette Cemetery.
