Carolyn Ann Greenwood
September 8, 1942 - July 10, 2015

Carolyn Greenwood, 72, beloved wife and cherished mother, passed away on July 10, 2015. Carolyn was born on September 8, 1942, in Palestine, Texas, to E.E. and Pauline Richards. She married Charles Greenwood on December 9, 1961. They celebrated over 49 years of marriage and raised two sons, Mark and Chuckie. Carolyn gave over 20 years of service to Southwestern Bell Telephone Company.

Carolyn had a warm and independent spirit, and she was deeply devoted to her family and community. She maintained a lifelong bond with her brothers Bud, Jerry, and Larry Richards of Palestine, Texas. She and Charles enjoyed many long road trips to visit family in Texas, Missouri, and Tennessee. She instilled strong family values in her sons and grandsons, and she taught them that life is about showing up, being there for people, and standing by your word. Whether cheering at their games, working the fundraisers, or helping with the FFA projects---even once hauling a show lamb into the house to save him from freezing temperatures---no distance was too far for her boys. She gave them the comfort of knowing she was there for them, no matter what life might bring. And, she was “mom” to so many others who knew that she would have an extra plate at the table for them if they ever needed it, no questions asked. There are no words to express how many lives she touched. She will be missed by all who knew her.

She is survived by her sons, Mark (Anne) and Chuckie; grandson, Josh (Joanna); brothers, Bud (Sheila), Jerry, and Larry (Renee) Richards; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles, and her grandson, Travis Greenwood.

Visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 p.m., Thursday, July 16, 2015, at Harrell Funeral Home (4435 Frontier Trail). Memorial services will be held at Harrell Funeral Home on Friday, July 17, 2015, at 12:30 p.m., with Reverend Don Long, officiating. Interment will immediately follow at Haynie Chapel Cemetery, Garfield, Texas.
