BLACKSHEAR, Ga. – Services for Rena Faye Courson Proctor, 70, were held at 3 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 24, 2001, At Emmanuel Baptist Church of Blackshear, Ga., with Dr. Don Hattaway and the Rev. Glenn Lindsey officiating. Interment was in Blackshear Cemetery directed by Pearson-Treadwell Funeral Home.
Mrs. Proctor passed away Thursday morning, Nov. 22, at the Satilla Regional Medical Center following a long illness. A native of Brantley County, she lived in Pierce County for most of her life. She worked as an operating room technician and as a sitter in the health care industry for many years. She was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church where she was in the Ladies' Sunday School Class. She was also a member of the American Legion Women's Auxiliary, the VFW Women's Auxillary and the Blackshear Order of the Eastern Star. She was a daughter of the late Lonnie and Versie Jacobs Courson and was also preceded in death by her husband, Dudley Proctor, who passed away in 1995.
Surviving are a daughter, Ms. Janelle Hickox of Blackshear; two sons and daughters-in-law, Jerry (Susan) Sloan of Blackshear and Jim (Marion) Sloan of Hartsville; a step-daughter and step-son-in-law, Rhonda (Chris) Scarbin of Waycross; a brother and sister-in-law, Ronnie (Florence) Courson of Blackshear; eight grandchildren, Michael Hickox, Mark Hickox, Mandy Sloan, Capericia Black, Jerry Sloan II, Tommy Sloan, Sissy Whittington and Arcia Dayden; five great-grandchildren and several other relatives.
