Karen Sue Lawson, 69, passed away Thursday, July 9, 1915, at her home in Maryville.

She was born April 10, 1946, in Red Oak, Iowa to Jesse D. and Opal Marie (Yearsley) Foster.

She married Ron Cain in February, 1962, in Pickering, Missouri. Three children were born of this marriage, a daughter and two sons. Karen was divorced from Mr. Cain in February of 1987.

In April of 1990 Karen and James Lawson were married. No children were born of this marriage.

As a child Karen attended the Bloomdale Country School at Pickering and North Nodaway. She attended Northwest Missouri State University School of Nursing and worked at St. Francis Hospital until retirement after 24 years. After retirement she continued nursing for retirement homes and other hospitals. She worked for a nursing agency until again retiring in 2010, due to bad health.

She was a member of the Maryville First Christian Church and the Nurse's Service Organization.

Preceding her in death were her parents, son Ronald Lee Cain Jr (April, 1964) and sister Patsy Shelton (June, 2014).

Karen is survived by her husband Jim Lawson, of the home in Maryville, daughter Rhonda L. Smith, Maryville and son Steven Cain, Ivanhoe, Texas; 5 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.

A visitation will be held on Sunday, July 12, from 2:00-4:00 PM at Price Funeral Home, Maryville.

Graveside services will be conducted 2:00 PM, Monday July 13, at Orrsburg Cemetery, Parnell, Missouri.
