MANSFIELD: Billie Lee Jennings peacefully passed away Thursday evening, July 9, 2015 in Hospice House in Ashland surrounded by his family. He was 81.

He was born September 5, 1933 in Burnwell, WV to parents Henry & Bertha Jennings as one of nine children. He proudly served his country by joining the US Army.

A beautiful young lady named Joan Watts caught his eye and the pair soon married on December 3, 1954. They shared 50 wonderful years of marriage until she passed away March 21, 2005. They are now together again.

Bill worked at Gorman Rupp and retired from there in 1994. He enjoyed his coworkers and considered many of them his friend. He was a hard worker who always provided for his family and didn’t slow down after retirement.

One of Bill’s favorite activities was taking his wife shopping; Joan would say “give it the gas!” and he was always happy to take her around town. He NEVER missed a Steelers game and taught his kids and grandkids to also love his favorite football team. He threw the best Superbowl parties and when the Steelers won—the whole family would run down the street screaming from excitement. Bill also enjoyed camping and detailing his cars, but above all he cherished spending time with his family.

He was a member of Mansfield First Assembly Church.

Billie is survived by 4 children & 11 grandchildren… daughter Sue & Charles Johnson and their children: Nelson Johnson & Billy Johnson; daughter Debbie & Ron Miller and their children: Brianne Kindinger, Cole Lawson, Linzi Rigsby, & Ronnie Miller; son Henry & Cindy Jennings and their children: Josh Jennings, Holly Jennings, & Amber Campbell; daughter Angie & Kelly Rose and their children: Brittany Jennings & Hailey Rose. Also surviving are 13 great-grandchildren & 1 great-great-grandchild with 2 more on the way!

He was preceded in death by his parents, siblings, and wife.

His family will receive friends 3-7 p.m. Sunday, July 12, 2015 in Snyder Funeral Home, 2553 Lexington Avenue in Mansfield. In support of Bill & his family’s favorite team, feel free to come to calling hours wearing Steelers Game Day Attire (anything black & gold will also work); Bill would be proud to see his friends and family gather wearing his favorite team colors. A funeral service celebrating his life will be held 10 a.m. Monday morning in Mansfield First Assembly Church, 1000 McPherson Street in Mansfield, with Pastor Tom Blair officiating and burial to follow in Mansfield Cemetery.
