Henry Moore III, a long-time Texarkana resident, was born on July 23, 1932 in Texarkana to the late Henry and Olivia Smith Moore. He passed away on Thursday, July 9, 2015 at his home.
He was married to Frances Gayle (Powell) Moore for 53 years. Mr. Moore was a graduate of Choate Preparatory School in Wallingford, Connecticut and graduated Cum Laude from Vanderbilt University with a Bachelor of Arts Degree and continued on to receive his Bachelor of Laws degree from the University of VIrginia. While attending Vanderbilt University, Mr. Moore was a member of Phi Beta Kappa Society, Phi Eta Sigma Fraternity and Kappa Sigma Fraternity. Mr. Moore was made a member of the Order of Coif while attending Law School.
Henry was an avid sportsman. He was appointed in 1975 by Arkansas Governor David Pryor to serve on the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission and served until 1982. He served on the board of State First National Bank in Texarkana, AR, People's Bank of Lewisville, AR, and Buhrman Pharr Hardware. He was the Founder and President of Holly Mound Land Company and Hunting Club.
He is survived by his wife, Francis Gayle (Powell) Moore of Texarkana AR, his son James Powell Moore and his wife Amy Moore of Lewisville, AR, his granddaughter, Alexandria (Moore) Askew and his grandson, Robert James Henry Moore of Hope, AR, as well as several nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will be held at the Texarkana Funeral Home Texas Chapel on Monday, July 13, 2015 at 11:30a.m. Visitation will be held following the service. Private interment will be held at Hillcrest Memorial Park.
