Since 1982, Gary was a truck driver with Days Express, Ralph Jolliff Trucking and, most recently, for Rumpke of Indiana.
He was a former of member of Columbus Moose Lodge No. 398. An avid Indianapolis Colts fan, Gary enjoyed having bonfires with his children and grandkids, and he enjoyed bowling, playing softball, gardening, and singing.
Born in Columbus, October 2, 1958, Gary was the son of Bill and Opal Cross Atkins.
He married Nancy Davis November 27, 1976.
Survivors include his wife of 38 years; children, Steve (Riva) Atkins of Dover, Tennessee, and Kimberly Atkins of Columbus; grandchildren, Colton, Christopher, Joseph, Kailin, Ethan, Evan, Brayden, and Allyson Atkins, and McKenzie Ulerick; a sister, Patricia (Bill) Cash of Columbus; brothers, Larry (Candi) Atkins of Seymour, Buddy (Tina) Atkins of Maine, and Mark (Vickie) Atkins of Columbus; his mother-in-law, Velma Davis of Columbus; and several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
Gary was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Lonnie Atkins; and his father-in-law, Roy Davis.
