Jonathan Andrew Marshall, 4, of Purvis, passed away on July 5, 2015. Services were held Saturday, July 11, at River of Life Church in Hattiesburg followed by burial in Grantham Cemetery.

Jon entered this world early and stubbornly fighting. It was a glimpse of what life would be like with this little bundle of excitement. There was never a dull moment with Jon around. His love of life and ability to make you laugh were only surpassed by his stubbornness and strong will. You cannot talk of Jon without thinking of his smile that stretched across his face or his laughter that was unavoidably infectious. His life was defined by his love for his parents, his complete adoration and love for his older brother, and his obsession with planes and fire trucks.

Whether he was playing fire rescue with Trey or seeing how close he could come to touching something you said not to, he brought life, laughter, joy, love, and yes, even frustration to your day.

Jon embodied the joy of the Lord. He was an adventure, a lesson in patience, and a picture of loving with true abandonment. When he hugged, he hugged with his heart and soul, melting into you and making you feel like the most loved person on Earth. If you knew Jon, you knew love. His short time here did not diminish the astounding impact he had on anyone that was fortunate enough to meet him.

Jonathan was preceded in death by his great-grandfather, Andrew Augustus Lott and his great-grandmother, Shirley Stuart.

He is survived by his parents, Clifton and Samantha Marshall of Purvis; brother Trey Marshall of Purvis; grandparents, Cliff and Cherri Marshall of Hattiesburg, Lloyd Fortenberry of Hattiesburg, and James and Marjie Saucier of Purvis; aunts, Miranda (Steven) Gentry of Hattiesburg, Andrea Marshall of Sacramento, California, and Mari Grace Marshall of Hattiesburg; uncle, DeLance (Silvia) Preston of Purvis; and many, many cousins.

Visitation was Friday, July 10, 2015 at River of Life Church from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m.
