Charles Benjamin Marlin was born on February 10, 1888 in Williamson County, Tennessee, and he was a son of Joseph Bonapart "Joe" Marlin (1839-1921) and his 2nd wife Vina Ann (Ragsdale) Marlin (ca 1845- ). [NOTES: 1 - His June 1917 World War I Draft Registration Card has his name as Charles Bee Marlin, married, with two children and his father to support. 2 - His father Joe was married 1st in 1865 to Sallie Grimes (ca 1845- ).]

He was married on December 25, 1912 in Williamson County to Nancy Melissa "Nannie" Sweeney (20 Oct 1892–17 Sep 1976), the daughter of John Thomas Sweeney (1850–1933) and Indiana "Anna" (McKennon) Sweeney (1852–1911).

A laborer [for Teas Extract Company?] and living at 5607 Morrow Road, Nashville, Charles was 52 years old and married when he died at home of angina pectoris on April 22, 1940. Burial was the next day in Spring Hill Cemetery, Nashville.
