Huff, Serge L. 87, of Phoenix, passed away on January 21, 2014, holding the hand of his devoted wife of 63 years, Amy Joan Blackmon Huff, and surrounded by their five children. Born in Orem, Utah, Serge enlisted in the Navy during WWII. As a young man he served two missions for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. After studies in choral conducting with Fred Waring, and at BYU and ASU (B.A., M.A.), Serge was director of choirs at West Phoenix High School for 31 years. His teaching had an incalculable influence on thousands of students, inspiring them with a passion for music and service to others. As a highly regarded music critic for the Phoenix Gazette he championed the Phoenix Symphony in its formative years. In retirement he and Joan served for ten years in the LDS Mesa Temple. Survived by his wife, five children, 21 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. Visitation Friday, January 24 from 6-8 pm at A.L. Moore Grimshaw, 710 W. Bethany Home. Services Saturday, January 25 at 11 am at LDS Chapel, 1835 East Missouri Avenue, Phoenix, with visitation 9:30-10:30 am before services. Arrangements under the direction of A.L. Moore-Grimshaw Bethany Chapel, Phoenix, AZ.
