Florence was born December 28, 1920 in Louisville, Kentucky to Fred W. and Elizabeth (Farrell) Pfisterer. She married Douglas Robert Smith on October 22, 1960 in Evansville, Indiana. She worked as a secretary and bookkeeper for Mueller-Estep Real Estate Co. before moving to Rockdale where she was a homemaker for 51 years.
Florence was a member of St. John’s United Methodist Church in Rockdale and was active in the church choir and the Women’s Club. She was a former Girl Scout Leader and was a fabulous seamstress. She loved arts and crafts and made some of the ornaments for the Christmas tree at church. Florence loved to bowl, play bridge, enjoyed square dancing and ballroom dancing and loved being with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her son, Ronnie Heflin; parents; brothers, Joseph Henry Pfisterer and Fred Russell Pfisterer; and sisters, Margaret Grace Whitfield and Anna Mae Pfisterer.
Florence is survived by her husband of 54 years, Doug Smith of Rockdale; daughters, Lynn Oldham of Wimberley and Carol Lynn Smith and husband Steve Mudge of Austin; daughter-in-law, Karen Heflin of Plano; grandchildren, Ray Heflin, Heather Heflin and Lindsay Marriott; great grandchildren, Payton Marriott, Laynie Marriott, Zoe Heflin, Gabriel Carlson and Takoda Heflin.
Funeral services will be held at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home with Rev. Adam Straznicky officiating and burial following at I.O.O.F. Cemetery. Visitation will be at the funeral home.
Pallbearers are Josh Marriott, Steve Mudge, Ray Heflin, Alan Pfisterer and Allan Miller.
Honorary pallbearer is Eldon Ball.
