Roy Curtis, 93, of Shawnee, Oklahoma passed away Thursday, July 9, 2015 at his home.

He was born January 29, 1922 to Ethan Talmage and Anna Loyd (Price) Curtis in Earlsboro, Oklahoma.

Roy was raised in the Earlsboro/Prairie Valley areas in Seminole County where he attended Prairie Valley Schools. He graduated with the class of 1941 from Prairie Valley High School.

He married Ruby Mae Burk on September 5, 1946 in Meeker, Oklahoma.

Roy proudly served his country in the U.S. Army Air Corps and was honorably discharged.

After his discharge from the military he came back to Shawnee, Oklahoma and went to work for Schlumberger Well Services in 1948. In 1972 he was transferred to Duncan, Oklahoma where he and his family lived until his retirement in 1984 after 36 years of service with Schlumberger. At that time the family moved back to Shawnee where they have resided since.

Roy was a member of the Immanuel Baptist Church. He was a devoted member of the Carl’s Jr. Coffee Drinkers Club and a crappie fisherman.

He was preceded in death by his parents Ethan and Anna Curtis; 3 sisters, Anna Belle Coleman, Lucille Poe and Naomi Guinn; 3 brothers, E.T. Curtis, Jr., Raymond Curtis and Wilbur Curtis.

Service will be 10:00 a.m., Saturday, July 11, 2015 at Immanuel Baptist Church in Shawnee with Reverend Todd Fisher officiating. Burial will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park in Shawnee under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home of Tecumseh.
