Elizabeth Glidewell, age 91, of Reeds Spring, passed away Sunday, July 9, 2006, after battling cancer. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ray Glidewell; a son, Jerry Ray Glidewell; a brother, Boyd Daniel; a granddaughter, Sherry (Glidewell) Meriweather; grandsons, Larry Glidewell and Don Glidewell; and two grandsons-inlaw, Buddy Meriweather and Dwayne Knell. Survivors include a daughter, Jean Scott and husband, Bob, Galena; two sons, Jack Glidewell and wife, Shirley, Ozark, and Mack Glidewell and wife, Louise, Quapaw, Okla.; two sisters, Rena (Burk) Hathcock, Cook Springs, Ala., and Varena (Burk) White, Roswell, N.M.; six grand- children; 16 great-grandchildren; and 11 great- great-grandchildren. In addition, Elizabeth had many devoted nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and neighbors, and her absence will be felt by all of us. Elizabeth was born in Ponce de Leon, Mo., June 10, 1915, to Jesse and Ollie (Siesser) Daniel and attended school in Abesville. She accepted Christ as a young woman and attended Sixty-Five Full Gospel Pentecostal Church. She married Ray Glidewell March 11, 1932, in Galena. They lived most of their lives in Stone County where they raised their family and bought, sold, raised, and hauled cattle until their retirement. Although Elizabeth had been retired for over thirty years, she filled her time raising and selling bottle and feeder calves, quilting, gardening and yard work. She was always happy to attend family gatherings, but she especially enjoyed greeting family and friends from her own porch swing with, "Well, you better sit down awhile." Visitation for Elizabeth will be at Adams Funeral Home in Nixa, from 6 to 8 p.m. tonight. Funeral services will be held at SixtyFive Full Gospel Church, Spokane, at 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 11. Burial will follow in Eisenhour Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Community Hospices of Southwest Missouri.
