Donnie Gene Thornton, of 204 Rock Creek Road, Headland, died Sunday night, December 5, 2004 at Southeast Alabama Medical Center. He was 51.

Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday, December 8, 2004 at The Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses (912 States Avenue) with Brother Tommy Lowe Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park with Byrd Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 until 8 p.m. on Tuesday.

Mr. Thornton was born September 15, 1953 in Henry County and lived in Headland all of his life. He was a 1971 graduate of Headland High School. He was employed with Rebwood Manufacturing Company prior to his illness in 1992.

Mr. Thornton is predeceased by his sister, Sherry Thornton who died in 1993.

Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Thornton, Headland; his daughter, Selena Thornton, Headland; his parents, Frankie and Mary Thornton, Headland; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Doroother and Cubie Hill, Dothan; a brother, Terry Thornton, Headland; an uncle and aunt, R.J. and Betty Thornton, Headland; an aunt, Clara White, Dothan; cousins, Jackie and Carroll White; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Lovell Hill, Sharon Lawrence, Angelea Hill, Lawanda Hill, Virginia Hill, James Hill, Doroother Hill, Milton Hill and Gary Hill; host of nieces, nephews and friends.
