Wendell Dewayne Adams, 85, of Nicoma Park, died Monday, July 3, 2006, in Oklahoma City. He lived and farmed in the Headrick area for many years before moving to Nicoma Park.

He was born April 6, 1921, in Headrick to John Emore Adams and Ella Winnie Adams. he married Winnie Mae Barker on July 12, 1942, in Hobart. She preceded him in death on July 16, 1983.

After retiring from farming, he found many hobbies that he enjoyed, especially making monuments for cemeteries and the annual trips to seven cemeteries and 51 gravesites where he placed flowers and flags on the graves. He also enjoyed raising birds and designing lawn statues and spending time with his grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; one daughter, Robin Merlene Adams; three brothers and four sisters.

He is survived by four sons, Jerry Adams and wife Alice of Midwest City, Richard Adams and wife Barbara of Headrick, Tommie Adams and wife Evelyn of Midwest City, and Billy Adams and wife Sharyn, also of Midwest City; 12 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren.

Funeral services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Friday in the Lowell-Tims Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Jeff Moore officiating. Interment will follow in the Mountain Park Cemetery in Mountain Park, under the direction of Lowell-Tims Funeral Home.


The family will great friends from 6 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Lowell-Tims Funeral Home.
