James W. Stout, age 69, of Elizabethton, passed away on Tuesday, July 7, 2015 at Sycamore Shoals Hospital.

James was a native of Carter County and was the son of the late George and Amanda Mann Stout. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a grandson.

Mr. Stout was a former employee of North American Rayon Corporation, where he had worked in the spinning room. He was a member of East Side Free Will Baptist Church and enjoyed fishing, hunting and passionately loved basketball. He was a United States Army veteran.

Survivors include his wife, Martha Stout, of the home; one son, Jamie Stout and wife Holli; one daughter, Lori; four grandchildren; one step daughter, Kim Garland; a sister-in-law, Tammy Garland; a sister-in-law and husband, Lisa and Chris Putman; and his dog, “Cooter”.

A graveside service to honor the life of Mr. James W. Stout will be conducted at 11:30 AM on Friday, July 10, 2015 at Mountain Home National Cemetery with Rev. Roger Stocton, officiating. Military honors will be accorded by the Carter County Honor Guard. Music will be provided by Al Hughes. Pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. Those wishing to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton at 10:30 AM on Friday, to go in procession.

The family will hold a visitation from 9:30 AM until 10:30 AM on Friday, July 10, 2015 in the Chapel of Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton, prior to the graveside service.
