Funeral services are 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Phillip AME Church (Centerville Road), with burial in the Church Cemetery. Viewing-visitation is 3-7 p.m. Friday at TILLMAN OF TALLAHASSEE (850) 942-1950. A lifelong Leon County resident, Mrs. Thompson was a retired domestic employee and member of St. Phillip. She found tremendous joy in cooking, growing and harvesting vegetables.
Treasuring her love and precious memories are her daughters, Delores Jackson, Rosa Chambers (Tyrone) Davis, Catherine Sheffield, Mary, Romona and Etta Thompson; son, David Thompson, Sr.; 17 grandchildren and 26 great grandchildren; brothers, Henry (Barbara), Lawrence, Leon and Booker Johnson; daughter-in-law, Linda Smith-Thompson; sisters-in-law, Willie Mae and Laura Johnson and Lettie Goodwin; brother-in-law, Fenrick Gilliam; a special friend, Melvina Lamb; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was predeceased by her husband, Oscar Thompson, Sr.; three sons, Oscar Jr., Ernest and Edward Thompson; and two brothers, George W. and Johnny Johnson.
