Mrs. Rachel Luvara Smith, age 76 years, widow of Richard H. Smith, died at her home on east Oak street Sabbath morning at 3:25 o'clock from the effects of a stroke of paralysis, which she sustained on Saturday evening about 7:15 o'clock. She was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Isaac Cox and was born in Monongahela county, West Virginia, July 13, 1837. She was married to Mr. Smith November 29, 1859, and the couple came to this county and settled at Cookport. They later removed to Rayne township and ten years ago came to Indiana to live. Mr. Smith died on February 22, 1905. Four children survive, as follows: Mrs. John J. Long, of Leechburg; A. John Smith, of Monessen; E. Walker Smith, of Indiana, and Isaac P. Smith, of Mt. Pleasant. Funeral services were held at her late home yesterday afternoon at 2 o'clock by Rev. J. W. Cary, of the M. E. church, and interment was made in Greenwood cemetery.
