"Geo. W. Flint came to Harr. co. in 1839, when he was 8 yrs of age & his wife in 1838 when 6 yrs of age. He held office of Justice of the Peace when he lived in Cainsville. MO., & was a merchant there many yrs. His 1st merchantile venture was in Bethany and later moved to Coffey,Mo. From there he located in Mt. Moriah and later at Cainsville, eventually moving to Lorraine MO.,& he was prominent in a movement to move the county seat to Lorraine, but the effort failed." Harrison Co MO History; 1921; p440
