A. Irene Harder Norman of Utica
Agnes Irene Harder Norman, 95, of 1301 Oswego St., died Saturday, December 11, 2004 at St. Luke's Memorial Hospital Center with her family by her side. She was born November 13, 1909 in Sauquoit a daughter of John F. Murphy, Jr. and Hattie Carroll Murphy. She graduated from St. Francis de Sales High School and was a teacher at St. Patrick's Grammar School before marrying Albert Daniel Harder in 1935. He died in 1946. She later married Robert Norman in 1956. He died in 1973. She was also employed at the Bendix Corp. for many years. She was a member of St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church and was a 70 year member of the Third Order of St. Francis. She is survived by five sons, Joseph Harder of Marcy and special friend Carol Green of Whitesboro, Vincent Harder and wife Jayne Roberts Harder of NJ, John Harder and special friend Nancy Paciello of Utica, James Harder with whom his mother lived, Daniel Harder and wife Margaret Anna Harder of Old Forge and New York City; a daughter, Marie Almagno and husband Ronald of NJ; sixteen grandchildren, Daniel Harder, Kevin Harder and his wife Angela, Timothy Harder, Theresa Smith and her husband Phil, James Harder, Christine Constable and her husband Christopher, Michael Harder and his wife Teresa, Anneliesa Gaunt and her husband Jerry, Karen Sittel and her husband Matthew, Marianne Durell and her husband Sean, Lauren Shaffer and her husband Rich, Dan O'Gurk and his wife Michelle, Christine O'Gurk, Mariannette Donlon, Ronald Almagno and Vincent Almagno; and many great and great, great-grandchildren. She also leaves a cousin, John Sinclair of VA and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two brothers Leslie F. Murphy, Sr. and Vincent Murphy and a sister Mildred Bachale. The family would like to thank the staff on the 4th floor at St. Luke's Hospital and nurse and friend Kathy Gayle Anna and caregiver Anne Harder for the excellent care and compassion shown to "Mom". The funeral will be Tuesday at 9:15 from the Friedel, Williams, Coriale & Edmunds Funeral Home, Court at York Sts., Utica, and at 10 a.m. at St. Francis de Sales Church. Interment will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Calling hours will be Monday (today) from 4-8. Friends may consider a donation to the St. Francis de Sales Outreach Program in her memory.
