SANTAQUIN, Utah—Masonic services for Albert Magnus Johnson were conducted Thursday, June 25 by the Tintic Lodge No. 9 AF & AM at the Eureka United Methodist Church.
Burial was in the Eureka, Utah City Cemetery.
Johnson, 89, died June 21 at the home of Mabel and Curtis Butler of Eureka, Utah of natural causes.
He lived in Green River.
He was born Aug. 14, 1897 in Cripple Creek, Colo., to Peter A. Johnson and Hannah Mattson Johnson. He married Alyce Maude Randle June 30, 1939 in Salt Lake City. She died Aug. 22, 1967.
Johnson moved at a young age from Cripple Creek to Eureka and was educated in Tintic schools. He worked for the D&RG Railroad as a clerk and was a bookkeeper for the North Lily Mining Co. He worked at a mining lease at the Blue Rock Mine in Eureka and served as mayor of Eureka City. He moved to Green River in 1940 where he and his wife owned and operated Johnson’s Variety Store until his retirement in 1964.
He was a member of the Union Congregational Church in Green River; a life member of the Tintic Lodge No. 9, AF & Am in Eureka; a member of the Tintic Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star in Eureka; member of the York Rite in Green River; the Shrine Club in Green River; the Senior Citizen’s Center in Green River; the Wyoming Historical Society and the Fraternal Order of the Eagles in Green River.
Survivors include sister-in-law, Mrs. Curtis (Mabel) Butler of Eureka and brothers-in-law, Leslie Randle of Eureka, Allan Randle of Bellevue, Neb., and several nieces and nephews.
