Gerald Dixon, 92, well known Guymon businessman, passed away Tuesday evening, July 7, 2015 at the Baptist St. Anthony’s Hospice in Amarillo, Texas.

The son of John Earl and Rosa Emma (Henning) Dixon, Gerald was born August 3, 1922 on the family homestead north of Guymon. Gerald attended the Guymon school system. He was a member of the Guymon Masonic Lodge, Panhandle Shrine Club and the Elk’s Lodge. He had a great love for thoroughbred racehorses, both in raising them and as a jockey. He was also actively involved in his real estate business, farming, notary service and as an author.

Gerald and Vonda Pate were united in marriage on April 13, 1946 in Clayton, New Mexico. She preceded him in death on December 16, 2004.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Rosa Dixon; his wife, Vonda Dixon; sister, Kay France; and two brothers, John and Ernest Dixon.

Survivors include his son, Jerry Dixon of Guymon; daughter, Rae Jean and husband, Ken Humble of Guymon; four grandchildren: Mitzi Mallard and husband, Larry of Telluride, CO, Chad Humble and wife, Natasha of St. Louis, MO, Summer Dixon-Miller and husband, David of Amarillo, TX, and Gabe Dixon of Guymon; five great grandchildren: Katie Mallard of Costa Rica, Retta Mallard of Telluride, CO, Jordan Dixon, Conner Reams Dixon and Reagan Trisler, all of Amarillo, TX; and two great-great grandchildren: Kennedy DeWald and Hayden Stover of Amarillo, TX; two sisters: Earlene Howell and Bonnie and husband, Don Winter of Guymon; one brother, Oral Dixon of Guymon; along with numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Funeral services will be conducted Saturday afternoon, July 11th at 2:00 p.m. at the Grace Southern Baptist Church in Guymon with Pastor Tom Freeman officiating. Interment will follow at the Elmhurst Cemetery. Services are under the care of the Bunch – Roberts Funeral Home of Guymon.

The Dixon family suggests that in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to the No Man’s Land Museum in Goodwell. Memorials will be accepted at the Bunch – Roberts Funeral Home, PO Box 1112, Guymon, OK 73942.

The family will greet friends at Gerald’s home, 1209 N. Lelia.
