Her surname is actually "Silver" as indicated in census records, etc of her parents and their parents and her GG Grandfather Revolutionary War Patriot George Silver Jr.
(# 45794177)
However, the original surname was “Silber”. Her lineage goes back to the 1660s Denkendorf, Necker, Wuerttemberg, N. Germany. Her first American ancestor Hanss Jurg “George” Wendel Silber, father of George, our Patriot, landed in Pennsylvania aboard the Speedwell Sept 25, 1749, as indicated in documented records.
Gran Victoria had the following siblings: Jasper Taylor (1880-1972- Martha Padgett) Katie (1883-1922 -Oscar Bennett Smith, Lucinda Jane "Lucy" 1885-1922 Unmarried, and Julia Emaline (1889-1954) -Wm Oscar Bearden. She married Rhina America "Riney" Smith in Milton Co Ga. in 1910.
Earlier family members said she was a very beautiful woman. She was a talented artist, and I have some drawings she created for embroidery patterns. I also have the little trunk from Yancey NC that belonged to her mother Jane Amanda Wilson Silver. This trunk held baby clothes for my mother when Gran Victoria died.
She was told she could not have any more children due to a serious heart condition, but she had my mother, which resulted in heart failure two weeks later. Before she died, she asked my Aunt Katie Silvers Smith, her sister, who was married to Oscar Smith, brother of Rhina America, to take my mother and raise her. She, too, only lived a few months after she took my mother. Gran Victoria and her sisters Katie and Lucy all died within months of each other in 1922.
Katie and Lucy are buried at Poplar Springs Baptist, Hall County Ga. and Jasper is buried in Gwinnett Co.Peachtree Rd Baptist, Julia is buried at Restview Cemetery, Lawrence Co Tn.
My adopted Grandfather and natural Great uncle Oscar raised my mother and we never had any contact with Rhina. Gran Victoria’s other children: Fronie, Carl Thomas, Ralph, and Daisy were adopted after her death. My mother kept in touch with Fronie, Carl, and Ralph, but she never found Daisy.
Grandmother Victoria's death certificate states she was buried in Chamblee Ga. The death certificate also states her father was "Silvery", which contradicts all previous records of facts including several census, marriage, obit and other images.
Her mother was not Martha Willson as the death certificate states. Martha Willson was actually the grandmother of her husband Rhina America Smith who furnished the information at her death. This can be supported by the CSA widow's pension of Martha Jane Willson Gilstrap after Rhina's grandfather Charles Asberry Gilstrap died in the Civil War at Vicksburg. Rhina re-married and had a large family after her death. He is buried in Polk Co Ga.
Gran Victoria’s documented father Levi "Bud" was the son of Greenberry Silver (1818-1898) & Manervia Elkins Of Yancey Co NC) and documented mother was Jane Amanda Wilson the daughter of James R. Wilson and Lucinda Arrowood (Clem & Mary Allen of Yancey)
I was accepted into the DAR through my GGGG Grandfather George Silver Jr. Revolutionary Patriot buried at Kona Mitchell Co. NC.,through first born son John "Jackson" Silver (1785 Maryland-1883 Pickens Co Ga (# 58677104)) his son Greenberry (#70934479)and his son Levi "Bud", father of Victoria, buried at Ball Creek Cemetery Pickens Co Ga.
