Schaller, Patricia Jean (Urquhart) October 15, 1935 - September 21, 2012. Patricia Jean Schaller passed away peacefully and returned to the Lord after an extended illness. Patty was born in Brazil, Indiana to Pansy Verna Lewis and William MacRae Urquhart. She is survived by her husband of 28 years, Charles Schaller; a sister, Carol Marker; three sons, Andrew Townsend, Timothy (Lisa) Townsend and Peter Townsend; a daughter, Leslie (Gary) Townsend-Brueggemann and three adoring grandchildren, Zoey Townsend, Madeline Brueggemann and Dustin Brueggemann. She also leaves behind many beloved nieces and nephews. Patty was preceded in death by her parents, William and Pansy Urquhart; her brother, Robert Urquhart; her sister, Dayle (George) Rosellini; and her sister, Barbara (John) Jersild. Patty established many strong and enduring friendships in her life. She grew up in Chicago and Forest Park, Illinois in her younger years and moved to Janesville, Wisconsin in her teen years. She graduated from Janesville High School in 1953 and continued on to graduate from Illinois State University in 1958. She lived a life of devotion to her family, friends, and church. In retirement, Patty enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and serving on the Flower Guild at Christ Church where she enjoyed creating floral displays for Sunday services. Before retiring, Patty was a teacher of adult learners and completed her working years in a fulfilling career as a Coordinator of Adult and Continuing Education at the College of Lake County in Grayslake, Illinois. A highlight of Patty's career was the creation of a program for introducing middle school students to college studies in fun and engaging formats, which earned her recognition for its success. The Xplore program she created has flourished, and many Lake County youth continue to enjoy wonderful and engaging programs year after year. Though her spirit has been called home to the Lord, we will fondly remember her strong and loving spirit, her love of games, and her delicious brownies. Memorial service will be held at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, September 26, 2012 at Christ Episcopal Church, 410 Grand Ave. in Waukegan, Illinois with visitation starting at 3:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations are encouraged to be applied toward a memorial scholarship fund to be established in support of the Xplore program for Lake County youth offered through the College of Lake County. Arrangements are under the direction of PETERSON & PATCH FUNERAL HOME, 408 N. Sheridan Rd., Waukegan. For information, please call 847-623-0495.
