Ernestine Mangum Hagwood Harrell, 87, of 326 Second Avenue, died on July 6, 2015 at Wake Med following a period of declining health.

Affectionately known as "Ernie" she was the oldest daughter of Royal Milton Hagwood and Lillian Ernestine Mangum Hagwood and was the widow of Willie Coleman "Boonie" Harrell, Jr. who died in 1983.

Ernie graduated from Knightdale High School in 1945 and attended Louisburg College, where she received a secretarial certificate. She retired from Seaboard Air Line Railroad after 30 years of service as a Clerk Stenographer. She also worked for the State Department of Agriculture for several years as a telephone Enumerator. Following retirement Ernie joined the Knightdale Extension Homemakers Club serving as Corresponding Secretary for many years.

She is survived by sons: Royal Blair Harrell and his wife Foy of Rougemont, Willie Coleman "Billy" Harrell, III of Knightdale, Benjamin Andrew Harrell of the home; daughters: Elizabeth Ann Harrell, Kelly Yvonne Harrell and her wife, Amy Meiggs all of Knightdale; she is also survived by her three precious grandchildren: Courteney Harrell Bailey and her husband Matt, Willie Coleman Harrell IV and his wife Adrienne, Hayley Schiebel ; three great-grandchildren: McPhearson and Brenan Bailey, Chloe Harrell, also surviving is her beloved sister Virginia "Jenny" Dell Hagwood Davis and her husband Sam of Wendell; sister-in-law, Gladys Miller Harrell Friedlin and her husband Carlisle of Atlantic Beach; brother-in-law, Bobby Robertson Harrell and his wife Barbara "Pete" of Knightdale; several nieces and nephews and cousins as well as her Godchild, Elizabeth Dell Israel.

In addition to her parents and husband, Ernie was preceded in death by her father and mother-in-law, Willie Coleman Harrell, Sr. and Gladys Robertson Harrell; son-in-law, Gerald "Jerry" Schiebel.

Ernie was a life-long member of Knightdale Baptist Church, 15 Main Street, Knightdale, 27545, where a service to celebrate her life will be held at 11:00 am, Saturday, July 11, 2015 with Reverend Trent Sessoms and Reverend George Pullium officiating.

The family will visit in the church fellowship hall immediately following the service.

In lieu of flowers, those who wish to do so may make a memorial contribution to Ernie's Sunday School Class, the Philathea Sunday School Class, Knightdale Baptist Church, P.O. Box 21, Knightdale, NC 27545.
