Gerald H. Hoogstraat, 78, of Clifton passed away on Tuesday, June 30, 2015.He was born September 18, 1936 in Danforth, the son of George and Anna Alberts Hoogstraat and they preceded him in death. He married Winona Hertz on April 8, 1962 in Kankakee and she survives. Also surviving are one daughter, Sharon Hoogstraat of Danforth; one son, Dale Hoogstraat of Paxton; one grandson, Cody (Melanie) Hoogstraat of Urbana; one brother, Laverne (Marge) Hoogstraat of Bourbonnais; many nieces and nephews; and special family friends, Dennis and Mary Ann Sorensen (Sarah Peterson & Brett Sorensen).Mr. Hoogstraat was co-owner and operator of Hoogstraat Brothers Farm Drainage, a salesman for Springfield Plastics and he farmed. He served in the Army National Guard. Gerald was a past member and officer of Iroquois Co. Soil & Water Conservation District and Land Improvement Contractors Assoc. (LICA).Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, July 6, 2015 at the Knapp Funeral Home in Clifton. Rev. Brian King will officiate. Burial will be in the Ashkum Cemetery.Visitation was held from 4:00-8:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 5, 2015 at the Knapp Funeral Home in Clifton.
