Carlin Brandt, 91, of New Castle, passed away Sunday, July 5,2015 at Glen Oaks Health Campus. He was born Mar. 13,1924 in Morocco, IN, a son of the late Edward J. and Letha (Miller) Brandt.

A 1942 graduate of Kentland High School. Carlin also graduated in 1949 from Purdue University. While at Purdue, Carlin was drafted and served in the US Army Air Corps during World War 11. He retired from Eastern Hancock High School following over 40 years as the Ag Teacher, 4-H, and FFA Leader. He was also a member of the American Legion Post #137 New Castle and the Commemorative Air Force.

Survivors include two sons, Mike (Sandra) Brandt of New Castle and Col. Keith E. (Melinda Kaye) Brandt, MD of Moore, OK; grandchildren, Christa (Paul) Acton of Columbus, IN, Joshua Brandt of Houston, TX, David Brandt and Rachel Brandt of Dayton, OH; two great-grandchildren, Alex an Mia Brandt; several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Brandt in 2014; and a brother, Oris Brandt on Dec. 7,1941 at Pearl Harbor.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, July 9,2015 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Rev. Lee Yates officiating. Burial will follow in Green Hills Memory Gardens. Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. Wed., July 8,2015 at the funeral home.
