Charles Samson Passed Away After Lingering Illness

Charles Samson, aged 60 years, passed away quietly at his home in this city last Thursday evening after a lingering illness. Death was due to kidney and liver trouble from which he suffered for a long time and for the past three months he had been confined to his bed.
Charles Samson was born in Wora, Finland, August 22, 1873. When a young man of seventeen years of age he immigrated to the United States, arriving in this country in 1890. For two years he worked in the mining sections of Michigan and then in 1893 he came to Utah and settled in the Tintic District, which has since been his home. He followed mining as an occupation and held good positions with several of the large companies here. He also was quite successful in leasing. During the summer months of the past dozen years he has operated a farm at Genola but spent most of the winters at his home in this city. He was a member of the Loyal Order of Moose.
Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Hannah Mattson Samson, three daughters and a son: Mrs. T. Burt of Berkeley, Calif., Mrs. Alford Daniels, Miss Ellen Samson and [Carl] Elmer Samson, all of Eureka.
Funeral services were conducted at the M. E. Church in Eureka at 2 o'clock on Sunday afternoon with the Rev. William Frary presiding. Interment took place in the Eureka cemetery.
