Co. E, Cherokee Legion Georgia; Confederate States of America. Enlisted at Cumming, GA 8/18/1863. Detailed 11/9/1863.

From his obituary: Dr. Edmond M. Bacon died at his home in Forsyth County, Georgia within half a mile of his birthplace, December 19, 1894, aged 60 years. He was brought up on a farm in the early settlement of the county, with only such educational advantages as a newly settled country afforded. In early manhood he studied medicine. Graduating at the Southern Medical College, he entered upon his life work of farming and practicing physic in the country, in both of which he was decidedly successful. He was united in marriage December 18, 1869, with Miss Laura A. Ellis of Cumming, whose gentle ministries at the household altar made her a model wife and mother. Eleven children, all living, and nine of whom are still with the family, were the offspring of this union. A Methodist from conviction and by inheritance, 18 years ago he united with the church, since which time he lived a quiet, unobtrusive and Christian life...In full possession of all his mental powers, the end suddenly came---his disease being hereditary heart affection.
