Sharon Mae Slater, age 66, of Laceyville, PA went to be with her Lord on Saturday evening July 4, 2015 at Robert Packer Hospital in Sayre, PA.
Sharon was born the daughter of the late Allie C. and Gladys S. Kithcart Heeman on May 21, 1949 in Sayre, PA, she was the wife of Charles R. Slater of Laceyville, PA. Sharon worked as a team leader for Landers Cosmetic Company of Binghamton, NY, where she worked for almost 15 years until her retirement in 1999. She was a long time member of the Silvara United Methodist Church. Over the years, she loved collecting cookbooks and also watching various cooking channels. Gospel music was here favorite music to listen to. But most of all Sharon enjoyed being surrounded by her large family very much.
Sharon is survived by her husband of 17 years, Charles R. Slater of Laceyville, PA; step-children, Charles Slater Jr. of Wysox, PA; Kenny Slater of LeRaysville, PA; Denny Slater of Rome, PA; Randy Slater of Rome, PA; and Chari Jo Slater of Tunkhannock, PA; as well as several grandchildren and one great-grandson. Also surviving are her brothers Allie “Sonny” Heeman of Laceyville, PA; Melvin Heeman and his wife Jeanie of North Augusta, SC; Edward Heeman and his wife Marjie of Owego, NY; and her sister Joyce Osterhout of Susquehanna, PA; sister in law Judy Heeman of Newark Valley, NY; special niece Sara Brown of Meshoppen, PA; and many loved nephews and nieces. Besides her parents Sharon was preceded in death by her sisters Beverly Brown and Louise Norton; brother Robert Heeman; sisters in law Dorothy M. Heeman and Clara Heeman; brother in law Robert Osterhout; nephews Duane “Duffer” Heeman, Melvin Heeman Jr., and John Norton; and great niece Carina Heeman.
Funeral services for Sharon will be held on Thursday July 9, 2015 at 11:00 AM at the Sheldon Funeral Home, 459 Main Street, Laceyville, PA with Reverend Gloria Montgomery of the Silvara United Methodist Church officiating. Interment will follow at the North Flat Cemetery in Laceyville, PA. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday evening July 8, 2015 from 6:00–9:00 PM.
